Windows 2008 policy won’t apply on XP client

When you are applying a 2008 policy on a XP client it is possible that it does not apply. You can apply the policy by following these steps:

1. Install Group Policy Preference Client Side Extensions for Windows XP (KB943729 – Download).
2. Install the patch on all windows XP clients and reboot the system
